Podcast clips with captions

Make podcast clips with captions you can review.

CastCuts provides free automatic English transcription for signed-in users, then lets you create short podcast videos with captions from the timed transcript. Correct the words, choose a caption size and add an opening headline before rendering. Start free with branded MP4 exports, or use $9/month Pro for clean new exports.

For video podcasters who want understandable on-video subtitles and control over the words their guests actually said.

Free exports are branded · Pro removes CastCuts branding from new renders

Start with a video podcast and its transcript

Upload your recording or import a permitted video link, then let the English transcription finish before editing transcript captions. An imported video and an available timed transcript are separate things: if transcription is queued or has failed, captions are not ready just because the source can play. Sources must contain video and audio; audio-only audiograms are not supported.

Correct words that change the meaning

Automatic subtitles need an editorial check. Listen to the selected excerpt and compare it with the timed text. Correct guest names, product names, technical terms and numbers. Pay particular attention to short negatives: a missed ‘not’ can reverse an answer. Editing caption text changes the displayed words; it does not rewrite the recording’s audio or translate the speaker.

  • Check the first and last caption against the clip’s selected timestamps.
  • Listen again where speakers overlap or the microphone becomes quiet.
  • Keep the speaker’s intended meaning when correcting punctuation and spelling.

Use a headline and subtitles for different jobs

The opening headline introduces the subject of the clip. The captions represent the speech. For example, an editorial headline such as ‘What changed our recording setup?’ can introduce a discussion, while the subtitles should still reflect the actual answer. That is an illustrative writing example, not a claim about a real customer clip. Choose from three caption sizes and review the rendered text on a small screen.

Preview the captioned MP4 before posting

Watch the render with audio, then review it muted to check whether the words remain readable and preserve the idea. Check the start, the end and any place where text competes with a face or slide. Download the 720 × 1280 vertical MP4 and publish it yourself. On-video captions are different from the description you write in a social post.

Questions before you start

Can I add subtitles to podcast clips for free?

Yes. CastCuts Free includes automatic English transcription, captions from a timed transcript and branded exports. Processing can queue and the transcript needs review. Pro is $9 USD per month for new renders without CastCuts branding.

Does CastCuts translate captions into other languages?

Automatic transcription currently supports English. French, Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese marketing pages do not mean automatic transcription or caption translation supports those languages.

Can I edit captions before downloading the video?

Yes, when a timed transcript is available for the selected passage. Correct the text and render the clip with captions. If you change the text after rendering, create a new render while the source is still available. Media is retained for 24 hours.

Try your recording

Both plans: 1–90 second clips, 720 × 1280 MP4, up to 10 episodes, 4 GiB storage and 10 clips per episode. Sources may be up to 512 MiB and two hours. Media expires after 24 hours.

Pro removes CastCuts branding from new renders; it does not raise limits or queue priority. Monthly renewal until canceled; no voluntary refunds except where required by law.
