Privacy & analytics
Updated October 16, 2026. This page describes the features available in this version of CastCuts. Google features only run when configured.
Your account
CastCuts stores your name, email address and the account/session information needed to sign you in. Essential sign-in cookies keep your private workspace accessible to you. These cookies work independently of your analytics choice.
If you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your basic profile, email address and profile image with CastCuts. We store the Google account connection and encrypt stored OAuth tokens. We request identity access only, without access to your Gmail, Drive or YouTube library. Existing password accounts connect Google while signed in; matching email addresses do not automatically combine accounts.
Your podcasts and clips
Your recordings, imported videos, transcripts, caption corrections and exported clips belong in your private workspace. Media routes require your signed-in account. Your library shows when recordings expire; download the originals and clips you want to keep before then.
Importing a video contacts its hosting service. Local transcription and framing run on the local processing environment. Separately configured paid transcription requires the episode-level processing choice shown in the app.
Clip editor drafts are saved in this browser tab, separately for each account and episode. They are not a cross-device backup and can be lost when you close the tab or clear browser storage.
Optional Google Analytics
Analytics stays off until you allow it. When allowed, Google Analytics uses cookies and receives measurements of page categories, sign-in outcomes, clip-render requests and download clicks. A download click measures intent, not proof that a file finished downloading. Advertising storage and personalization are disabled.
Our analytics events exclude your name, email, account IDs, episode and clip IDs, podcast titles, transcript text, caption text, video links, full page URLs and query parameters. We send generic page categories such as “episode” instead. The Google connection can still expose normal network information, such as your IP address and browser information, to Google.
Public campaign labels can identify the marketing source, medium and campaign. Known search/social referrers are reduced to their public site origin. We discard other query values and referring-page paths.
Analytics respects supported Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals. It is disabled in local previews by default and on administration and unknown pages. Refusing analytics does not prevent sign-in, uploads, processing or downloads.
For Google’s handling of data, see its privacy information.
Your analytics choice
Analytics is inactive in this environment.
This choice applies to this browser. Google Analytics cookies may remain until they expire or you clear them in your browser.
Your controls
You can download or delete episodes and clips in your library, sign out from your account, and change the analytics choice above. Episode deletion also removes its associated clips through the app’s deletion process.
Clearing browser storage removes local preferences and editor drafts. This does not itself delete your CastCuts account or uploaded media.
