Interview highlights to Shorts

Turn an interview into Shorts that keep the context.

Upload a recorded video interview to CastCuts, review English transcript-based suggestions or choose a complete answer, then create a 1–90 second vertical clip. Keep the question when the answer needs it, correct the captions and download the MP4. Free exports are branded; Pro is $9 USD per month for clean new renders.

For podcast hosts, consultants and content creators sharing permitted guest and expert interviews.

Find an answer with a clear subject

An interview highlight needs more than a memorable sentence. Check what question the guest was answering and whether the clip remains understandable without the preceding discussion. If the answer begins ‘that depends,’ preserve what it depends on. You can start with an automatic English transcript-based suggestion, then adjust the timestamps to include the context you need.

  • Keep the qualification when a guest describes a result that applies only in a particular situation.
  • Include a short question when the answer otherwise has no clear subject.
  • End after the explanation, rather than cutting immediately after its most dramatic phrase.

Choose a layout for the exchange

For two people in a wide interview shot, try the full-frame layout first. A fixed portrait crop may work for a guest’s uninterrupted answer, but it can hide the host’s question or a relevant reaction. CastCuts does not generally switch cameras or follow each speaker automatically; presenter/whiteboard framing remains a limited preview. Review every speaker change in the finished render.

Check the quote against the recording

Automatic English transcription makes a starting point for captions, not a verified quotation. Correct names and numbers and listen where voices overlap. Write an opening headline that introduces the topic without attributing a stronger claim to the guest than they made. Make sure you have permission to edit and publish the recording, including the proposed use of the guest’s appearance.

Give the viewer a way to find the full interview

Download the 720 × 1280 MP4 and post it from your own social account. In the post description, identify the guest and explain what the rest of the conversation covers. Add the relevant full-episode link where the platform supports it. These are publishing steps you carry out yourself: CastCuts does not post, schedule or measure the resulting visits for you.

Questions before you start

Can I turn a remote interview recording into Shorts?

Yes, if you have a supported video file with both video and audio and permission to use it. Upload MP4, MOV or WebM within the displayed limits. CastCuts does not connect directly to a video meeting account.

Does CastCuts create separate clips for each speaker automatically?

English transcript-based suggestions can help identify passages to review, but they are not a promise of a separate clip or camera angle for each speaker. You control the selected moment and choose full-frame or fixed-crop framing.

Can I create interview highlight clips without a watermark?
