A customer interview clip should preserve what the customer actually said and the circumstances behind it. Choose one complete answer, keep any qualifying language and confirm the promotional use through your existing approval process. An individual account of an experience should not become a broader performance promise in the edit.
Agree the use and review process before editing
Confirm which recording and passages are approved for promotional review, where the clips may appear and who checks the final version. Treat permissions and confidentiality questions as part of your organization's existing process; the clip editor does not resolve them. Inspect the recording for customer names, private screens and unrelated participants. If an excerpt cannot be made suitable with a faithful continuous selection, choose another passage.
Keep the question when it defines the answer
A response such as 'we tried it for two weeks' means little without knowing what was tried. Include the question or enough of the answer to identify the topic. Keep phrases such as 'for our team', 'so far' and 'on that project' when they limit the claim. A confident headline must not convert a cautious customer observation into a guaranteed outcome for every buyer.
Review names, numbers and quotes against the recording
Check English transcript captions carefully, particularly quantities, product names and negative words. A missing 'not' can reverse a customer's point. Compare the headline and post description with the actual answer as well as the captions. If the customer corrects a factual detail, keep a record of the approved revision outside CastCuts and use a suitable recording or corrected source rather than silently changing the meaning of their speech.
Review the exported asset and record its status
Give reviewers the actual MP4 and accompanying wording, with a version label and the source timestamps. Ask them to check the context, attribution and visible information together. Download approved files before temporary media expires and retain them in your own delivery folder. CastCuts provides private editing and export; it does not collect customer approvals, manage release agreements or operate a shared testimonial library.
Preserve a limited customer observation
Illustrative example. The people, recordings and results described here are fictional.
In a fictional interview, a small studio owner says, 'For our weekly review, having the notes in one place stopped us hunting through three documents.' The clip retains the weekly-review context and the concrete description of the old process. Its headline reads 'One place for the weekly review notes'. The editor rejects 'This tool eliminates wasted time' because that wider claim is absent from the customer's account.
A precise customer story is useful without expanding it into a universal claim.
Check before you finish
- The promotional use and final review owner are established.
- The question and important limits remain understandable in the excerpt.
- Names, figures, captions and summary wording match the approved account.
- The delivered MP4 and accompanying text share an approved version label.
Practical questions
Can I remove hesitation from a customer answer?
Choose clear start and end points without changing the point being made. CastCuts renders a continuous excerpt; removing internal phrases or joining separate sentences requires another editing workflow and a fresh context review.
Is an interview clip the same as a verified testimonial claim?
No. The clip records an individual's account. Check its accuracy, permitted use and any promotional claims through your own review process rather than treating video as independent verification.
Can the customer approve an automatic transcript instead of the video?
A transcript alone misses framing, tone and the accompanying text. Use it to assist review, then check the final exported video and its proposed description together.
Use this workflow in CastCuts
Keep the context in a customer interview excerpt
CastCuts selects continuous 1–90 second excerpts and exports 9:16, 720 × 1280 H.264/AAC MP4 files. Automatic transcription and transcript-based suggestions support English and require review. Free exports include CastCuts branding; Pro removes it from new renders for $9 USD/month, with the same processing and storage limits. Episode media is retained for 24 hours. Keep your originals and download finished clips before expiry. Publishing is manual.
