Work through a recording

Build a podcast guest promotion kit with useful video clips

Prepare a guest promotion kit with approved podcast clips, accurate names, suggested post text and a clear handoff for manual publishing.

A podcast guest promotion kit gives your guest a small set of ready-to-review assets and the context needed to share them. Include a downloaded clip, a faithful description, the full episode link and any publication timing. Make sharing easy without assuming the guest has agreed to post.

Choose a passage the guest can stand behind

Select a complete answer that reflects the guest's actual point and fits the audience they might share it with. Keep qualifications, credit for other people's work and the question when it changes the meaning. Send the proposed excerpt for review through your normal communication channel. Agreement to appear in an interview does not tell you which promotional wording the guest prefers; settle that in the handoff.

Keep the asset set small and clearly labeled

Prepare one main clip and, only when useful, a second excerpt with a different takeaway. Use filenames that identify the show, guest, topic and approved version. Include the final MP4 rather than a screenshot of an editor preview. CastCuts media is temporary, so download exports and place them in your own delivery folder. Its private episode URLs are not a public guest delivery portal.

Supply adaptable post copy and accurate credits

Write a suggested description in plain language, with the episode subject and a relevant next step. Let the guest adapt it to their own voice. Check the guest's name, organization and preferred account mentions rather than guessing handles. Distinguish an exact quote from your summary. If a clip contains English captions, review names, terminology and negatives against the recording before calling the file final.

Make timing, revisions and links explicit

Add the full episode URL, an optional release date with time zone and a contact for corrections. State which file has been approved and whether the recipient can publish immediately. If an edit changes, replace the delivered asset and mark the previous version as superseded. CastCuts does not send guest kits, collect approvals or schedule posts; keep that record in your existing document, email or project system.

A compact guest kit for one interview

Illustrative example. The people, recordings and results described here are fictional.

A fictional design podcast prepares a 42-second excerpt in which guest Mara explains how she asks for feedback on a rough sketch. The folder contains one approved MP4, a text document with two optional post descriptions and the episode URL. The note says the episode is available Tuesday at 09:00 UTC and asks Mara to confirm her preferred organization name. An earlier file with an incorrect caption stays out of the delivery folder.

The guest receives a clear sharing option and a simple way to request a correction.

Check before you finish

  • The excerpt and promotional wording have an agreed review status.
  • Names, account mentions and spoken captions are accurate.
  • The kit contains the final MP4 and a working episode destination.
  • The handoff identifies timing, version and a correction contact.

Practical questions

How many clips should a guest promotion kit contain?

Start with one strong approved clip. Add another only if it serves a different audience question. A large folder of similar excerpts creates extra review work without clarifying what to share.

Can guests review clips inside my CastCuts account?

Do not assume a shared review workspace is available. CastCuts media is private to its owner; download the file and use your existing review and delivery process without sharing account credentials.

Should the guest use my suggested post word for word?

Treat the description as a starting point. Preserve accurate quotes, attribution and episode details while allowing the guest to write a post that suits their own audience.
