Work through a recording

A podcast clip checklist before you publish

Review meaning, cut boundaries, captions, framing and the downloaded MP4 with a practical podcast clip publishing checklist.

Before publishing a podcast clip, verify its meaning against the source, listen to both cut boundaries, review captions and framing, and play the downloaded MP4. Then check the video and post text in the destination platform’s preview.

Review the claim before the presentation

Listen to the surrounding answer and compare it with the clip’s headline. Keep conditions, negatives and attribution intact. Check guest names and any factual statement you intend to repeat in the post. Automatic transcription and clip suggestions need human review; they do not verify the truth of the speaker’s claims or replace any permission process you use.

Watch with sound, then without it

With sound on, listen for a clipped first word, an unfinished ending, crosstalk or a sudden microphone change. Without sound, check caption accuracy, readable size and whether the headline explains the topic. Review camera changes from beginning to end. A fixed portrait crop may lose a speaker, while full frame may make a slide too small to read.

Check the delivered file and publishing preview

Play the downloaded file to confirm it is the latest approved render. CastCuts exports a 9:16, 720 × 1280 H.264/AAC MP4. Confirm branding is appropriate for your plan, save the file and source reference, then inspect the platform’s upload preview. Media is retained for 24 hours, so finish your local archive before the episode expires.

A preview can reveal the wrong version

Illustrative example. The people, recordings and results described here are fictional.

In a fictional session, the editor corrects a guest’s name and renders again, but selects an older downloaded file during upload. The platform preview still shows the error. Playing the local file and checking the version before posting prevents the corrected project state from being mistaken for the final deliverable.

Approval applies to the actual file you publish, not just the editor settings.

Check before you finish

  • Meaning, attribution and headline match the complete source answer.
  • The opening and ending contain complete words and a finished thought.
  • Captions are accurate and essential visuals stay visible.
  • The latest downloaded MP4 plays correctly and has the intended branding.
  • Post text, cover and destination preview have been checked.
  • Originals and final files are saved before the 24-hour expiry.

Practical questions

Do corrected captions update a file I already downloaded?

No. Render the clip again, download the new file and verify that this is the version you select when publishing.

Should I review a suggestion before exporting?

Yes. Check the source context, timestamps, transcript, layout and final playback for every suggestion you decide to use.

Use this workflow in CastCuts
