Start with a Zoom video recording you are authorized to edit and publish. Obtain the MP4 through the recording owner’s normal download process, then upload that file to CastCuts. Choose a complete answer and review the recorded layout before making a portrait clip.
Use the video file rather than the meeting link
Zoom distinguishes computer recordings from cloud recordings and provides video recordings as MP4 files. Obtain the appropriate video file from your own recording or the owner. Open it locally to confirm it includes the intended picture and audio. A meeting invitation or protected recording page is not a direct video-file URL; CastCuts does not connect to your Zoom account or bypass download restrictions.
Inspect what Zoom actually recorded
The recording may contain a speaker view, gallery, shared screen or a combination. A portrait crop can hide another participant or the important part of a screen share. Compare it with full-frame layout throughout the chosen excerpt. If names, private messages or other details should not be public, prepare a suitable source in another editor; CastCuts does not provide a blur or redaction tool.
Choose a complete answer and review the export
Upload the MP4, wait for it to be ready and choose a 1–90 second passage. Review available English transcript-based suggestions or set your own boundaries. Correct caption errors caused by names or connection quality, add a concise headline and render the clip. Download the result within the 24-hour media retention window and publish it manually.
A gallery recording can need the full frame
Illustrative example. The people, recordings and results described here are fictional.
In a fictional remote interview, the guest answers while the host points at a shared diagram. A close crop of the guest loses the diagram. Full-frame layout preserves the explanation, but if its labels are too small on a phone, choose a passage that works without those labels rather than promising that a crop can recover unseen detail.
Review the downloaded recording before choosing the moment or layout.
Check before you finish
- The source is an authorized MP4 with both picture and sound.
- The selected layout preserves the people or screen detail the answer needs.
- Private details, captions and the final downloaded clip have been reviewed.
Practical questions
Can I paste a Zoom meeting link into CastCuts?
Use an authorized downloadable video file. Meeting invitations and protected recording pages are not supported Zoom integrations.
Can I use the separate audio recording instead?
CastCuts requires a source with both video and audio. An audio-only recording does not produce an audiogram in the current workflow.
Use this workflow in CastCuts
Turn recorded sessions into captioned vertical clips
CastCuts selects continuous 1–90 second excerpts and exports 9:16, 720 × 1280 H.264/AAC MP4 files. Automatic transcription and transcript-based suggestions support English and require review. Free exports include CastCuts branding; Pro removes it from new renders for $9 USD/month, with the same processing and storage limits. Episode media is retained for 24 hours. Keep your originals and download finished clips before expiry. Publishing is manual.
