Treat an automatic transcript as a draft and a navigation aid. Listen to the selected recording, check the words that carry its meaning and review the surrounding answer before exporting a clip. CastCuts provides automatic English transcription and transcript-based suggestions; neither verifies factual claims, guarantees a useful excerpt or replaces a human listening check.
Review the recording before trusting a suggested moment
Use a transcript timestamp to find the passage, then listen from before the proposed opening until after the proposed ending. Identify the subject, the speaker’s actual claim and any condition that limits it. A suggestion can miss an earlier question, an ironic tone or a later correction. Move the boundaries when a complete thought fits, or reject the suggestion when the idea needs more context than a short excerpt can preserve.
Give high-impact words a separate checking pass
Listen carefully to guest names, product names, units, dates, prices and technical terms. Check short negatives and comparisons such as ‘not’, ‘less’ and ‘more’, because a small error can reverse advice. Replay uncertain speech rather than filling gaps with what sounds plausible. Background noise and overlapping voices can make automatic text unreliable. If the recording is still unclear after listening, select a clearer passage instead of inventing a confident caption.
Correct captions without rewriting the speaker’s claim
In the clip editor, use the complete timed transcript to review and correct the displayed caption phrases. Preserve the speaker’s meaning, including qualifications, even if a stronger sentence would make a more dramatic headline. Caption corrections change the text shown on that clip; they do not replace spoken audio or turn transcript-based editing into automatic fact checking. Review each clip’s captions when making several excerpts from one episode.
Check the final caption snapshot in the rendered file
After correction, render a new clip and inspect its downloaded MP4. Confirm the first and last displayed words, timing around pauses and the difficult terms you marked. A saved video does not update when you later change an editing draft. Watch once with sound to verify accuracy and once without sound to assess comprehension. CastCuts transcription is English-only; translated public website pages do not imply automatic transcription in those languages.
A fictional number and negative change an instruction
Illustrative example. The people, recordings and results described here are fictional.
A guest says, ‘Do not raise the limit to fifteen yet.’ The draft reads, ‘Do raise the limit to fifty yet.’ The editor replays the source, restores ‘not’ and ‘fifteen’, then checks the preceding sentence to confirm what limit is being discussed. They render again and review the corrected MP4. The example illustrates review steps; it is not an actual customer transcript or accuracy measurement.
Verify the words that change a decision before polishing their appearance.
Check before you finish
- The passage and its surrounding context have been heard in the recording.
- Names, numbers, units, negatives and comparisons match the audio.
- Unclear speech is not replaced with a guessed or stronger claim.
- The latest downloaded render contains the reviewed caption text and timing.
Practical questions
Are automatic clip suggestions fact-checked?
No. They are review candidates based on transcript text. Check the original context and independently verify claims when your publishing decision requires it.
Will a corrected caption change the speaker’s audio?
No. It changes displayed words. Repair audio externally when needed, and do not use corrected text to claim the speaker said something different.
Can I edit captions before transcription finishes?
Transcript-based caption editing requires a complete timed transcript for the passage. Source-video readiness and transcript readiness are separate states.
Use this workflow in CastCuts
Review English captions before rendering your clip
CastCuts selects continuous 1–90 second excerpts and exports 9:16, 720 × 1280 H.264/AAC MP4 files. Automatic transcription and transcript-based suggestions support English and require review. Free exports include CastCuts branding; Pro removes it from new renders for $9 USD/month, with the same processing and storage limits. Episode media is retained for 24 hours. Keep your originals and download finished clips before expiry. Publishing is manual.
