# How to make podcast teaser and episode trailer clips

> Choose a complete moment for a podcast teaser, introduce an upcoming episode and give listeners a clear reason to hear the full conversation.

A podcast teaser clip should deliver a useful moment while introducing the larger episode. Choose an answer, tension or story turn that stands alone, then connect it to the full conversation in your post. A teaser does not need to hide the answer or promise a dramatic reveal.

## Choose the episode promise before the excerpt

Write the question that makes this episode worth hearing. Then find a passage that demonstrates the quality of its answer: a clear explanation, an unexpected distinction or a concrete example. Avoid a greeting followed by a list of everything discussed. A viewer encountering your show for the first time needs a subject before they need an episode number. The teaser should represent the conversation you actually recorded.

## Give the short clip its own payoff

Start at the first sentence that identifies the subject and end after a useful conclusion. You can leave a larger question open without cutting a sentence before its answer. If the speaker begins with 'that is why', include the reason or choose a later start that remains accurate. CastCuts creates individual 1–90 second excerpts; assembling several nonadjacent moments into a montage needs a separate editing workflow.

## Separate the headline, episode identity and next step

Use an opening headline for the idea, such as 'Why our interview questions changed'. Keep the show name, guest and release information in the accompanying post when they are not necessary inside the video. Review English transcript captions for names and dates. A pre-release post can say when the episode becomes available, but check that the destination exists before inviting viewers to follow a link.

## Plan a teaser and a later follow-up with different jobs

Before release, choose a passage that introduces the episode's central question. After release, publish another complete excerpt that answers a related practical question. Keep the two promises distinct so followers receive useful information each time. Save both exported files and draft descriptions in your own storage before CastCuts media expires. Publishing dates, links and social uploads are managed manually outside the clip editor.

## A teaser that delivers a real insight

Illustrative example. The people, recordings and results described here are fictional.

For a fictional episode about opening a neighborhood bookshop, the guest explains how asking customers what they could not find changed the first stock order. The teaser includes the question, one customer example and the resulting decision. Its headline reads 'Ask what the shelf is missing'. The post identifies the guest and explains that the full episode covers the opening month, instead of claiming the clip reveals a guaranteed business formula.

The excerpt gives one complete lesson; the full episode offers the surrounding story.

## Check before you finish

- The teaser represents the episode's central subject accurately.

- A new viewer receives a complete idea before the clip ends.

- Release information and the destination link have been checked.

- The original, exports and post text are saved outside temporary storage.

## Practical questions

### What is the difference between a podcast teaser and a trailer?

Use teaser for a short introduction to a particular episode and trailer for a broader introduction to a show or release. The label matters less than a clear promise and an excerpt that supports it.

### Should I end a teaser before the guest gives the answer?

Usually keep a useful answer in the excerpt. You can invite people to hear the fuller discussion without withholding the one explanation that makes the short clip valuable.

### Can I join several teaser moments together in CastCuts?

CastCuts renders a selected continuous passage. Use another editor if you need a montage, music sequence or several excerpts joined into one trailer.
