# A podcast content repurposing plan for one episode

> Plan distinct podcast clips from one recording: map audience questions, choose useful moments and keep a simple publishing record.

By CastCuts · Updated 2026-10-22

Build a podcast repurposing plan around the questions your episode answers. Choose a few passages with different jobs, such as explaining a problem, demonstrating a method and telling a story. Give each clip its own takeaway and destination before spending time on the edit.

## Map questions before choosing timestamps

Listen to the recording or review its transcript and write down the actual questions answered. Add a rough timestamp beside each. Skip greetings, unexplained references and ideas that need several minutes of background. A moment belongs in the plan when you can explain what a new viewer will learn from it in one sentence.

- Problem: what is the viewer struggling with?

- Method: which concrete action does the guest explain?

- Story: what happened, and what did it change?

## Give each clip a different purpose

Three excerpts that repeat the same advice add little to a content plan. Compare their takeaways before editing. Choose one main publishing destination for each, then adapt the post description for other accounts. Reusing a downloaded video is a manual publishing decision; CastCuts does not schedule a campaign or post to your social accounts.

## Keep the plan outside temporary media storage

Use a simple document with the source filename, start/end times, takeaway, draft headline and publishing status. Keep your original recording and downloaded exports in your own storage. CastCuts media is retained for 24 hours, so its episode library should not be your long-term content calendar. Review what was published before choosing another passage from the same episode.

## Three clips with different jobs

Illustrative example. The people, recordings and results described here are fictional.

For a fictional interview about interview preparation, the plan could be: a clip explaining why generic questions stall a conversation; a clip demonstrating one follow-up question; and a story about an answer that changed the interview. These are three different takeaways, even if they come from the same ten-minute discussion.

Write the takeaway beside each timestamp. If two takeaways are interchangeable, keep the clearer excerpt.

## Check before you finish

- Each excerpt answers a different audience question.

- The plan includes source timestamps and a proposed destination.

- Originals and finished files will be saved before media expires.

## Practical questions

### How many clips should I make from one podcast?

Let the number of complete, useful moments decide. An episode may support a few distinct clips or none worth publishing. CastCuts currently allows up to ten clips per episode; that is a product limit, not an editorial target.

### Can CastCuts publish the whole plan automatically?

No. You review suggestions, choose and render clips, download the files and publish them yourself. Keep any schedule in your own calendar.

## Use this workflow in CastCuts

[Review transcript-based podcast highlights](https://castcuts.co/podcast-highlight-finder)

CastCuts selects continuous 1–90 second excerpts and exports 9:16, 720 × 1280 H.264/AAC MP4 files. Automatic transcription and transcript-based suggestions support English and require review. Free exports include CastCuts branding; Pro removes it from new renders for $9 USD/month, with the same processing and storage limits. Episode media is retained for 24 hours. Keep your originals and download finished clips before expiry. Publishing is manual.
