# Podcast clip calls to action that fit the excerpt

> Choose one next step for a podcast clip: continue the episode, answer a useful question or try the explained action. Includes fictional CTA examples.

Choose one next step that follows naturally from the clip’s takeaway. Invite viewers to continue the episode, answer a specific question or try the action explained in the recording. Put the request where the publishing destination supports it, without hiding the clip’s actual payoff.

## Choose the purpose before the wording

A clip introducing an interview may point to the full conversation. A practical lesson may invite the viewer to test a method. A discussion may ask for a relevant experience. Choose the purpose of this post rather than adding every possible request. ‘Follow, subscribe, comment and visit’ asks the viewer to decide which action matters.

## Keep the request outside essential speech

Do not cut off the guest’s conclusion to create space for a generic promotion. The current CastCuts workflow selects a continuous passage and supports an opening headline and transcript captions; it does not build an end-card sequence or splice in a separate promotional scene. A post description is often a practical place for a manually written next step. Check link behavior in the destination.

## Make the destination deliver the promised continuation

If you point to a full episode, verify the episode and topic. If you ask a question, make it answerable from the excerpt. If you invite an action, preserve any conditions the guest gave. Save the final post copy beside the export, then review the published post to confirm the request and any available link work as intended.

## Three next steps for three different jobs

Illustrative example. The people, recordings and results described here are fictional.

Fictional options: after an interview excerpt, ‘Continue the conversation in the full episode’; after a question-writing lesson, ‘Try writing one follow-up before your next interview’; after a discussion about preparation, ‘What helps you prepare a useful follow-up?’ Choose the option the actual clip supports rather than combining all three.

The call to action should continue the viewer’s interest in this specific idea.

## Check before you finish

- The post has one primary next step.

- The clip still delivers its complete answer before the request.

- The destination or question matches the actual excerpt.

## Practical questions

### Do I need a spoken CTA in every podcast clip?

No. A complete useful excerpt can stand alone, with a relevant next step in the post description where appropriate.

### Can CastCuts add a separate branded outro?

The current clip workflow does not assemble a custom outro or end-card sequence. Use the supported headline and caption controls or another editor if your deliverable requires additional scenes.
