# How to link a YouTube Short to your full podcast

> Connect a podcast Short to a full episode with YouTube’s Related Video setting. Check channel eligibility, the destination and the viewer experience.

By CastCuts · Updated 2026-10-22

After uploading a podcast Short, use YouTube Studio’s Related Video setting to connect it to eligible content on your channel. YouTube requires advanced feature access, and the selected destination must be public or unlisted. Make the clip useful on its own and relevant to the episode you link.

## Choose an episode that continues this exact topic

A related destination should answer the viewer’s likely next question. If the clip explains one preparation habit, the full episode should contain that discussion and useful surrounding detail. Keep the source episode and guest attribution accurate. An unrelated destination can make the post feel misleading even when the clip itself is clear.

## Add the relationship inside YouTube Studio

Upload your finished Short through YouTube. In Studio, open Content, select the Short, choose a Related Video from your channel and save. Confirm advanced feature access and the destination’s visibility first. These are YouTube account settings; CastCuts does not access your channel, change video visibility or add the link for you.

## Check the destination after publishing

YouTube describes a clickable related-video link below the channel handle. Check the published viewer experience and open the destination to verify it is the intended episode. Keep the clip’s headline and spoken content accurate even if someone never follows the link. In your own publishing record, note the source timestamps, Short and related episode so future edits do not point to the wrong conversation.

## A specific clip deserves a specific continuation

Illustrative example. The people, recordings and results described here are fictional.

A fictional Short explains why an interviewer prepares one follow-up question. Link it to the interview episode that contains that advice and its examples. Avoid linking it to an unrelated episode simply because that upload is newer. The viewer should recognize the same subject when the destination opens.

The next video should continue the promise made by the clip.

## Check before you finish

- Your channel has the required advanced feature access.

- The selected public or unlisted destination is the correct related episode.

- The saved link and published viewer experience have been checked.

## Practical questions

### Can I use any other channel’s episode as the Related Video?

YouTube’s documented setting selects a related video from your own channel. Use the options YouTube actually makes available to your account.

### Does CastCuts need Google sign-in for this?

No CastCuts channel integration is involved. You export a file, then use your own signed-in YouTube Studio session to publish and add the relationship.

CastCuts selects continuous 1–90 second excerpts and exports 9:16, 720 × 1280 H.264/AAC MP4 files. Automatic transcription and transcript-based suggestions support English and require review. Free exports include CastCuts branding; Pro removes it from new renders for $9 USD/month, with the same processing and storage limits. Episode media is retained for 24 hours. Keep your originals and download finished clips before expiry. Publishing is manual.
